Constructivism is the theory of meaning making. This means that students are aloud to construct their own meaning from information taught in education. The teachers allow the students to construct their own meaning, and then the class discusses the meanings together. When the class discusses the meanings, the teacher can correct misunderstandings or create an activity to let the students correct their own misunderstandings. I do believe that constructivism has been around for a long time; however, it has just started to get very popular.
I am excited to bring the constructivism theory into my own classroom. I, myself, cannot learn in the traditional model of learning. I have to interact and apply the information or skills; however, If I do not apply the information, I will have to sit for hours rereading my notes to learn the material. I also cannot wait to use the PAR model. I believe that presenting, applying, and reviewing new information in the classroom is the best practice!
